I decided to take a break for a day from all the blogging about the NSA spying on us, the IRS targeting us, the DOJ scoping us, the FBI blowing off any questions about the IRS targeting us, we have the DHS buying up ammo at a prolific rate and targeting us as "Extremist"., we have the HHS secretary with the epitome of "death panels" quotes about us, we have the EPA making more rulings that circumvent the rule of law about us......well crap I am sure I forgot a few....dozen alphabet agencies that believe that we have to be ruled by the elitist because we are too stupid to take care of ourselves...on the other hand. 
     Perhaps the fall of America was assured when the education of our children was turned over to the very entity that was feared the most by our founders..the Government .
     Perhaps the downfall was assured when Woodrow Wilson 30 years later inserted the word "Democracy" into the popular lexicon for the first time.
     Perhaps our hopes are dashed by politicians of a certain political party Communist,Heathen,Godless, Leftist,, Marxist assholes that put their political future above the country Democrats who fight voter I.D. laws because they would benefit from the casting of votes by non-Americans.
     Perhaps when we awoke on November 7th and realized that the clueless dumbed down low information

More Government support for the Obama Administration.

   I have stated in past post that the active assistance of government agencies of a president is dangerous to the republic.  We went to a merit type system to prevent government jobs being tied to political patronage as was the past system like the Tammany Hall system of patronage.  Now we have government agencies in active support for certain candidates and certain political parties.  This will cause a further disconnect where we have government that will actively target certain groups.  When people have faith no longer in their vote or ability to vote without being persecuted will cause a farther chasm in the political system.  When people believe that they have no say any longer in the voting process, they will start doing other things from going Galt to civil disobedience to active resistance and possible revolt.

With certain limitations understood (we don’t know the affiliations of non-donors), the chart above looks more like the political affiliations of Ivy League women’s-studies departments than those of an allegedly impartial federal bureaucracy.
The civil-service system was designed to replace the spoils system, which — in addition to creating chaotic rushes of office-seekers with each change of administration — packed political hacks into important administrative positions. A civil service was supposed to change that unacceptable reality by placing the administration of the more neutral functions of the government into the hands of dispassionate professionals. Thus the strong federal job security in the civil service, greater security than enjoyed by virtually any private-sector employee. The job security — so the argument goes — was necessary to prevent the re-emergence of blatant political patronage.
But what if the combination of increasingly activist government with strong bureacratic bias re-creates federal service as a kind of permanent spoils system for the Left? Isn’t it inevitable that this leftist bureaucracy will eventually view itself not as a servant for all citizens but as an instrument of its own righteous ideology?
If the recent history of our universities is any guide, the products of a leftist bureacratic monoculture will be characterized by the following:
Ignorance: Groups of like-minded people are notoriously incurious about the ideas and perspectives of dissenters.
Condescension: They don’t let ignorance stand in the way of a bulletproof sense of moral and intellectual superiority.
Hatred: Since all the good people they know agree with them, they ascribe the worst of motives to the other side, believing them to be motivated by little more than greed and bigotry.

Fanaticism: Cass Sunstein described the ”Law of Group Polarization like this: “In a striking empirical regularity, deliberation tends to move groups, and the individuals who compose them, toward a more extreme point in the direction indicated by their own predeliberation judgments.” In other words, when like-minded individuals deliberate, their common views grow more extreme over time.
We conservatives have a problem with Big Government, no matter who’s running it. But we also have a particular problem with this big government, as key agencies are increasingly staffed and run by individuals who wield enormous power, cannot be fired, and despise roughly half the American population. When Barack Obama urges supporters to “PUNISH OUR ENEMIES,” there are many federal employees only too willing to comply.

Monday Music "Someone is watching me...." by Rockwell

I am doing a segment of my "Monday Music" and I decided to use a song in deference to the NSA openly spying on the American public. 


"Somebody's Watching Me" is the debut single by R&B artist Rockwell, released on the Motown label in 1984. The song's lyrics relate the narrator's paranoid fear of being followed and watched. It featured former Motown artists Michael Jackson on the chorus and Jermaine Jackson on additional backing vocals.^[2] A clip of the song was remixed and released on Michael Jackson's Immortal album in 2011, with parts of songs such as "Is It Scary", "Threatened" and "Monster".

Rockwell is the son of Motown CEO Berry Gordy Jr. At the time of the recording Rockwell was estranged from his father and living with Ray Singleton, his father's ex-wife. Singleton served as executive producer on the project and would occasionally play some demo tracks to Berry Gordy. The elder Gordy was less than enthusiastic about Rockwell's music until he heard the single with a familiar voice featured prominently on background vocals.^[2][3]
Produced by Curtis Anthony Nolen, the song featured backing vocals by ex-Motown artist Michael Jackson and Alan Murray on percussion.^[2][4] "Somebody's Watching Me" peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984, and reached the top of the Billboard R&B singles chart, as well as reaching number six on the UK Singles Chart.

Music video produced by The Wolfe Company, directed by Francis Delia, cinematography by Dominic Sena, production manager: Jason Braunstein, production coordinator: Jon Leonoudakis. Leonoudakis appears in the video as the visual metaphor "watching" Rockwell through the porthole of the front door.

The U.S. Government...What we wish....and what it has become...

I saw this surfing the web, but due to my wacky schedule I was unable to post it until now.  With Cub day camp 2013 over, my schedule will return to a sense of normalcy....or something like that.

This is the image we have of Uncle Sam that I remember from growing up and the way my parents and grand parents spoke.  This represents the America that lives in our dreams and ideals.

This is what the government has become.  When the President of the United States or his lackeys are able to use the organs of the state to harass their political opponants and intimidate them, there is something wrong with this picture.  This is the policy of the banana republics and other 3rd world shitholes to do stuff like this.

History

Henley's song has a haunting rhythm and timbre,^{[clarification needed]} cemented by Campbell's 1-7-5 repetitive riff over a vi-IV-V-IV chord pattern. Superficially, the song appears to be about the passing of youth and entering middle age, with the theme of 'summer love' apparent in the choruses, and of reminiscence of a past relationship.^[1]
In a 1987 interview with Rolling Stone, Henley explained that the song is more about aging and questioning the past^[2]—a recurring theme in Henley's lyrics (cf. "The End of the Innocence",^[3] and "Taking You Home".^[4])
In an interview with NME in 1985, Henley explained the 'Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac' lyrics as an example of his generation selling out:

"I was driving down the San Diego freeway and got passed by a $21,000 Cadillac Seville, the status symbol of the Right-wing upper-middle-class American bourgeoisie – all the guys with the blue blazers with the crests and the grey pants – and there was this Grateful Dead 'Deadhead' bumper sticker on it!"^[5][6]

In an interview with Knoxville.com, Neil Giraldo, Pat Benatar's guitarist and husband, says that Henley came in the studio while he was in the process of recording the song "Love Is a Battlefield" using an up tempo beat, and asked Giraldo if he could steal the sound for use in his song, "The Boys of Summer", to which Giraldo gave his permission.^[7]

Accolades

"The Boys of Summer" reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Top Rock Tracks chart for five weeks. It was also a hit in the United Kingdom, reaching number 12 on the UK Singles Chart. A re-release of the single in 1998 also reached #12.
In 1986, Henley won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for the song.^[8]
"The Boys of Summer" was ranked #416 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Music video

The music video to "The Boys of Summer" is a French New Wave-influenced piece directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Shot in black-and-white, it shows the main character of the song at three different stages of life (as a young boy, a young adult and middle-aged), in each case reminiscing about the past relationship. This is shown during the line "A little voice inside my head said don't look back, you can never look back" at which point, each of the three people look back in turn. The young boy in the video, played by seven year old Josh Paul,^[9] resembles a young Don Henley. The girl in the music video is played by Audie England. The cutaways of the "boys" jumping in the air appear to have been influenced by the 1938 film Olympia.^{[citation needed]} Interspersed with these scenes are segments of Henley miming the words of the song while driving in a convertible. At its conclusion, the video uses the post-modern concept of exposing its own workings, as with a wry expression Henley drives the car away from a rear projection screen.
The video won the Video of the Year at the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards (leading Henley to comment at the Awards the following year that he had won for "riding around in the back of a pickup").^[10] It also won that year's awards for Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Cinematography. The Best Direction award was presented to Mondino by Henley's then-former Eagles bandmate Glenn Frey.

Obama administration and the IRS

   In the past five years of the rule of 0bama (his words, not mine), we have seen in vivid detail just how our current tax system can serve the political goals of a despotic elected official.
            Throughout his years in the White House 0bama has used our income tax as a bludgeon to attack high-achievers.  This he has done to exploit wealth envy. In the beginning 0bama was constantly stating that the rich needed to pay their “fair share” of taxes, never addressing just exactly what a “fair share” might actually be.  Later his rhetoric changed; he started flatly stating that the rich, particularly the top one percent of income earners, were not paying their “fair share.”  The 0bamaMedia protected him all the way .. never once asking him just what percentage of all income the evil top one-percent earned (averaging 17%), and what percentage of total income taxes collected they paid (averaging 38%).  The idea that the top one percent wasn’t paying their “fair share” was a complete myth, the media knew it, but the first black president had to be protected at all costs; after all, he was, as Evan Thomas of Newsweek said, “sort of a God.”
            Then things got even uglier.  0bama became alarmed that grass roots efforts were springing up around the country to fight the encroachment of big government on their lives and their livelihoods.  Many of these groups used the name “Tea Party” while others adopted titles with words offensive to liberals such as “patriot” and “freedom.”  0bama announced to his myrmidons and to the fawning 0bamaMedia that these groups were a “threat to democracy.”  Can you guess what happened then?  Somehow, and 0bama would have us believe it’s just a coincidence; the IRS started targeting these groups when they applied, as they had every legal right to do, for their tax-exempt status.  The extent of the IRS abuse was astounding; even to the point of asking the members of these groups for the content of their daily prayers.
            The 0bama junta, as they’re accustomed to doing, blamed the IRS abuses on “rogue agents” in Cincinnati.  As every day passes we come to a clearer understanding that the order for the IRS to target conservative groups came straight from the White House.  Nixon faced impeachment for lesser abuses involving the IRS.  Nixon, though, was white and thus didn’t have the shield of accusations of racism to hide behind.

2 historic events happened on this day...Normandy and Midway

What I am referring to are the D-Day invasion of Western Europe in 1944, it was the first direct attack on Western Europe and "Festung Europa", after the aborted attack on Dieppe in 1942.  Some believed that this was a practice run on the Germans to see how they reacted.  The British left a lot of material behind and a lot of casualties and prisoners from that raid.  The Canadians were not happy about the results.  But 2 years later the Allies tried again with much different results than the ill-fated raid.

 On June 6th, the allies struck in Normandy on 5 beaches, Gold, Sword,Juno,Utah and Omaha, after a major bombardment with aircraft, battleships, destroyers, cruisers and the French resistance and more aircraft attacking the rear areas including railroad marshaling yards, bridges and other gathering points, they kept the Germans from reinforcing the bridgehead.  Also a major factor was Adolph Hitler who refused to release the reserves because he believed that the main attack would come at Calais instead.  This belief was reinforced by a major misinformation campaign by the allies to keep the Germans pinned at Calais and not reinforcing the embattled Germans at Normandy.

As a treat, a couple of weeks ago when we were at work, there was our annual  AMT appreciation day at the hanger, we had some free food, the tool vendors were out in force and we got some cool stuff. we had some airplanes show up in the hanger:  This P51D is sporting the Stripes on the fuselage and wings that the allies had painted to make Identification easier so there would be less friendly fire incidents. Here is a better look at the P51D.  It is the iconic fighter from WWII for the allies.  This plane protected the B-17's and B-24's all the way to Berlin and back.  This plane made the Strategic bombing strategy a success, as far as enabling the bombers to make it to their targets.  Schweinfurt in 1943 was very costly to allied bombing efforts.  This showed the folly of sending bombers unescorted against Luftwaffe fighters.  Hermann Goering commented later when he saw a crashed P51 near Berlin, he "Knew the jig was up".      After being invaded on both sides by the allies, with most of Germany occupied, Hitler committed suicide in his bunker as Russian guns blasted Berlin. 11 months later, the Germans surrendered unconditionally to the allies. and the War in Europe was over.      Also on the other side of the world, in 1942 from June 4 through June 6 the Americans fought the Japanese at the battle of Midway.  At the end, the Japanese lost 4 carriers, 1 cruiser and 300+ airplanes and worse than that, they lost the creme of their aviation strike force.  the Japanese never recovered from that loss.  We lost 1 carrier, 1 destroyer  and 100+ airplanes.   The details that started this in motion was the Doolittle Raid , this overrode Admiral Yamamoto  caution in dealing with the United States.  After the raid he pushed through operation MI, the invasion of Midway island, which he believed would force the Americans to leave their Pearl Harbor base to save their last remaining outpost in the Pacific.  The Japanese Navy had to deal with the Americans at the Battle of the Coral Sea which they lost a light carrier Shoho a light carrier, but the dive bombing and torpedo planes of the Shokaku and the Zuikuku were savaged and the Shokaku was heavily damaged.  This forced the Japanese to use their other 4 heavy or fleet carriers.  the 6 carriers total, the Shokaku, Zuikaku, Akaki,Soryo,Hiryo and Kaga were the 6 carriers that attacked Pearl Harbor.  They represented the creme of Japanese Naval Aviation.  With Zuikaku depleted in their air arm and the Shokaku  heavily damaged, both were sidelined on the next battle.   The Americans lost the Lexington, a Destroyer U.S.S. Sims and many aircraft.  Also the U.S.S. Yorktown was damaged.  The Americans got her to Pearl Harbor and in 3 days got her repaired enough for combat operations to join the Enterprise and Hornet to defend Midway Island.  The American Cryptographers under Joe Rochefort were able to break the Japanese JN-25 imperial naval code which gave the Americans the plans of the Japanese to attack Midway Island.  The Japanese believed that the Americans only had 2 carriers, the Enterprise and Hornet, they believed that the Yorktown was sunk at Coral Sea.  The Americans met the Japanese at what was called the battle of Midway.  The end results was that the Japanese lost 4 of their fleet carriers, the creme of their naval aviation, and they never recovered from the blow.  It took 3 more years of hard fighting before the Japanese surrendered to the Americans on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri.      The Plane that devastated the Japanese at Midway was the SBD Dauntlass, this plane was responsible the the destruction of the Japanese carriers at Midway.           The diving brakes are evident in this picture. of a Dauntlass diving on a Japanese carrier.     We got a treat along with the P51D we had visit, we also had a SBD Dauntlass visit us also.                   The diving brakes that made her so devastating are shown here retracted.    Here is another pic of her from the other side.   I was very excited to see icons of American aviation in person.  I explained the significance of these planes to the other mechanics...especially the younger ones.  I wanted to crawl inside of them but I didn't want to insult the CAF by crawling all over their airplanes without permission.	The number of remaining D-Day vets is estimated anywhere between 8,000 and 60,000. Range time...

I took Small and Noisy A.K.A.  my son as I refer to him to the range as a treat for the end of the school year.  He did extremely well on the CRCT test that is a requirement for promotion to the next grade.   In Honor of Old NFO and Murphy's law  who went to the range and fired a bunch of old rifles, I finally decided that my old rifles need to be given some exercise also.  First off my son started shooting and he did extremely well.  Here is a pic of him holding the rifle that "Santa" brought him.

Well he settled down and at the end of the lane where I had the target set up, he started shooting very respectable groups.  the only time we had problems is when we had feeding issues.  His rifle is finicky when it comes to ammunition.
    

Well I brought out 4 of my "old rifles and fired them for the first time in 12+ years.  I even fired the 303 enfield.  I happened to find 4 rounds in my ammo stash so all 4 got a workout.  It was different shooting bolt action .30 caliber rifles when I have been shooting .22LR's in my AR-15.  After finishing the range I took the time to clean them up.  And took a couple of pictures of them.  I should have taken pics of them at the range but I didn't.  So I took them at home.  The pics ain't near as good if I had used natural light.
     Here are a 4 of them on the couch.

The first one is a 308 Enfield that the Indian Police used.  It was made in Ishapore  it is the same rifle as the 303 enfield but made for the 308 or the 7.62 NATO round.  It was made in 1968.  It uses the same action as the 303 Enfield.
   The second one is my O3A3 Springfield, It was made in 1943 and it was the first "old" rifle I bought.  I got it back in 1987 while I was in Germany.

It is my favorite rifle as far as my bolt action rifles go.    The next one is my Mosin Nagant 91/59.  I picked up in the mid 90's when they were importing them into the country.  It was made in 1942 and was later converted by the Bulgarians to a carbine version.    The last one is my 303 Enfield, it was made in 1945 at the same factory as my 308 Enfield at Ishapore.  Funny how that worked out.  Like I said, it was a blast shooting my "old" rifles.  there is something about holding a piece of history in your hand.  The rifles look much better in person than they look in the picture.  And an added plus all the serial numbers match.  I really don't care about stuff like that but I was pleasantly surprised when I cleaned them for the first time and the S/N matched.
     Once I locate more ammo, I will take them to the range again.

How My weekend went....and Monday Music

What a weekend....I worked overtime on Friday:)   good thing.  Went to a baseball game on Saturday and watch the Braves pull one off against the Nationals in the 10th inning.   Very good game.   I was taking short and noisy to camp Grandma.  Well we flew there first flight in.  Great!!  Well I knew that the return was dicey.  Well I got bumped off the first return flight, I kinda expected that then got bumped off the second  flight..because there was a cancellation in Atlanta from the feeder airline that flies into the city in Tennessee...well it is where it got pear shaped......All the passengers immediately tried to catch other flights out of there..and or arrange other modes of transportation out of there.and since I fly "free"  I had no standing with the gate agents.  They were really understanding on my desire to get back to the ATL.  But when you fly "gratis"  you take your chances.  Well I went down to check on car rental...guess what..Remember all those passengers that got bumped by the feeder airline they got car rentals to get out of there...their cars were gone except the really BIG things that get really crappy mileage.  Well I told my spousal unit what has transpired....and she in her graciousness drove all the way to this city to pick me up and drive me back to ATL to get my car..lotta hours in the car.
     I made it home...went to sleep for a couple of hours then came into work.   But this isn't the cherry on my day.  The same understanding spousal unit bought me a Subway sub to take to work....well the damm D.O.G  countersurfed it and got it.    I walked downstairs and saw pieces of sandwich all over the kitchen floor.....What a day.

    My last Post I had done before this one, I had used a lot of bad language, I normally don't use bad language since my kid likes to read my blog so I try to keep it "G" and "PG".  But there are times that bad language can be used to make a point.  I normally don't swear on my blog...but in this case I felt it was warranted.  My apologies if I offended my regular readers.
